the story of Rachel, an anemic little hermit girl who makes a friend at the expense of her ceiling.

i developed this film at calarts and made it at gobelins during my study abroad program. i started out wanting to do a story about rachel discovering shiny wonderful science and adventure with the help of this young steampunk scientist. its style of a girl's-fantasy, shoujo kind of story came along pretty early, but the story as a whole was very stubborn and tough to pin down. i put it down to the fact that i am not exactly a romantic person myself-- in retrospect, i might have preferred a rather different character to crash through the girl's ceiling…
